#BringASmile to Nepal (update)

#BRINGASMILE INITIATIVES

12/6/2024

In our last blog, we had originally set out to bring heartwarming smiles to underfunded orphanages in impoverished areas of Nepal.

We met some Nepali individuals during our travels who helped us understand the economic landscape across Nepal, and the region that faced more dire financial needs. They introduced us to the idea of bringing smiles to schools in the western region – the Achham District, a rural and remote area where subsistence farming (self-agriculture) was the norm. After a robust discussion, we were sold on the idea.

We selected Madu Vidhyalaya (Madu School) - schooling 450 students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 10 and operates six days a week (Sunday to Friday) - to start our effort. Madu School has the highest concentration of marginalized group of students who face systemic barriers due to caste, gender and socio-economic status.

As we distributed school supplies purchased from donations, we were touched by the joyful smiles on the students' faces. That was why we decided to pursue #BringASmile to Nepal 2.0, ultimately ensuring that the students continue to have consistent school supplies every year to focus on their academics (and not having to worry about affordability).

A big heartfelt THANK YOU to the early donors for their generosity and provided students with sufficient school supplies for the remainder of the year. Take a look at the videos and the financial summary.

We look forward to everyone's support on the #BringASmile Nepal 2.0 with school supplies.
