Meet Sita - The Local Hero Behind the Mission

6/26/2025

Sita lives in Achham, a remote district in western Nepal you might recognize — it’s where our #BringASmile to Nepal project is making a difference at Madu School.

Sita isn’t just a full-time teacher and loving mother to daughter Aahana (8) and son Yuvin (3). She’s also a critical resource working behind-the-scenes for our project. As the local lead for #BringASmile to Nepal project, Sita wears many hats — and wears them all with grace and grit:

  • She oversees the school supplies orders and payments with our trusted wholesaler in Surkhet.

  • She embarks on an 8-hour journey (one way!) in a cramped minivan to Surkhet, verifying every item purchased and strengthening our partnerships with the wholesaler.

  • She coordinates the safe delivery of supplies back to Achham and meticulously manages inventory count each month.

  • Most recently, she assembled 500 back-to-school kits on her own and led the entire distribution of back-to-school kits at Madu School — documenting every smiling face along the way.

So, why does she do it?

Because in Nepal, community isn’t just a concept — it’s a way of life. Sita believes deeply in lifting those around her, especially the children who hold the future of Achham in their hands. Her dedication is rooted in the hope that, together, we can build hope and opportunity to improve lives — for her kids, for her students, and for her village community.

In her spare time, Sita enjoys spending time with her children, reading books, listening to music, and connecting with the community to amplify the voice of the less fortunate, especially women and children. Sita thrives on helping those in need and that's why this project is so near and dear to her heart.

Sita isn’t just part of the project — she is the heart behind #BringASmile to Nepal.
